Back in the summer of 2023, I had an internship with Wabtec Corporation. I was originally hired into their internship program on the basis that I was going to help with service desk with implementing an AI solution that would automate certain workflows and thereby free up technicians to handle tasks that needed human intervention. Unfortunately, this project was the product of a last-minute pivot away from working on some propreitary software for end-user software deployment, meaning that the project was still early on. Combined with the fact that the people I was working on the project with were busy and managing other aspects of their work, I ended up falling to the sidelines for a little.

However, during this time, I resolved to still be productive. One of the other projects that I was tasked with as being an intern was called the "Tech Challenge". Basically, I was put onto a team with other IT interns that were located in my office in Erie or the other two offices in Pittsburgh or Chicago. We were tasked with migrating an older database application from several local instances located on machines across several sites to a single, consolidated database that would be served on a webpage in the cloud via AWS.

As part of this team, I was assigned to being the cloud infrastructure technician, and it was at this point that I fell in love with Terraform. I thought it was super cool how I was able to spin up and destroy cloud resources with a few simple commands, and Terraform also expedited the process for me by allowing me to worry about the configurations and not about the ordering of network resources.

This site is meant to be an extension of that, housing some of my creative endeavors and technical projects. In other words, it is partially my portfolio, but is also meant to be fun! The plan is to host this static website on AWS CloudFront and eventually branch out to register it with a FQDN and maybe even dynamic content that will be served with a database, similar to what I did as part of my Tech Challenge. I hope you enjoy looking through this material as I did putting it together!
